- CARPET WRINKLES
If you have carpet wrinkles they will only get worse over time. If left uncorrected, they become a trip and fall hazard. They also greatly affect the over all appearance of your room. You need your carpet “Stretched”?
David at Final Touch Clean Care has over 40 years in carpet stretching, carpet restretching, carpet repair, and carpet cleaning experience. He can perform a professional carpet restretch to (CRI Standards) on your home’s carpet to return it to its proper tension and beauty.
Two most common causes for the need of carpet restretching are:
Improper carpet stretching techniques when installed. Today’s polypropylene backed carpet must be power stretched to the proper tension in both directions. If the installer has used a “knee kicker” for stretching the carpet, it will look fine for one or two years then the carpet wrinkles will gradually start to appear.
Not enough acclimation time before installation. Here is an example…. The installer show up to your home on a cold or cool winter day. Your carpets outside on board his truck. He spends the first few hours moving furniture, pulling out old carpet, tack striping, and padding. Then he takes a cold roll of carpet off the truck, rolls it out in the room, and makes any necessary seams. He then properly power stretches in both directions. The installer has done a very professional job and the carpet looks great. Until, hot humid July and August days, then it begins to expand and the only way for it to expand is upward. All materials, whether it is polypropylene, nylon, latex, or solid steel will expand and contract with heat and cold. Then your only left with two decisions: carpet re-stretching, or replacing. Carpet re-stretching is the much cheaper, and more “green” choice.
There are other causes such as improper cushion height or density, and high concentration of traffic. Wheel chairs and office chair rollers are big contributors. They can break down even the strongest carpet backing due to the concentrated point of weight.
Life happens…. We drop things that result in stains on our carpeting that just cannot be removed through cleaning your carpet. OR, we spill something (such as bleach) that results in carpet color loss. Providing your carpet fiber is dye-able, we can restore the color as closely as possible to its original state.
If carpet spot dying is not an option, there is still hope. We have many, many years of experience in repairing all sorts of blemishes, holes, seam breaks, and much more. In all types of carpet, including patterned Berbers, Plush, and Frize. From iron or cigarette burns, pet destruction, pulled threads, to seam delaminating, or other stains that cannot be removed through carpet cleaning we can fix them all.
Many, many times a carpet repair can be performed when the homeowner believes the carpet must be replaced, saving tons of money.
If additional carpeting is required for the necessary carpet repair, and an “extra piece” can’t be found in the attic or some other storage spot, it can generally be “borrowed” from your closet to complete the fix. We can then replace the carpet in your closet with a newly purchased piece that is an acceptable replacement.
CARPET SPOT DYEING
Bleached areas or other discolored blemishes can often be restored by recoloring the damaged carpet. This process requires several steps to assure a permanent color replacement. While we can never guarantee a 100% match in color, customers are very pleased with the incredible results of the technical service.
