Why Shouldn’t I Just Clean My Carpets Myself?

Why Shouldn’t I Just Clean My Carpets Myself?

posted in: tips | 2

There are plenty of places in Nixa and Ozark to rent a machine……. You can’t go into a grocery store, hardware store, dry cleaning plant, etc. without tripping and falling over all of the rental equipment available to the general public.

So what is the difference between those machines and the machines professionals use?

Can you do just as good of a job cleaning your carpets as a professional can and save money at the same time?
These are legitimate questions.

We all need to budget our money and save as much as possible. Your carpeting is the third largest investment in your home so it is very important to make sure you are doing all you can to maintain it properly so that it will last as long as possible.
First, let’s look at the cleaning job itself. Professional truck mounted equipment will recover 96 percent of the cleaning solutions and water necessary in the cleaning process. FYI – this process is also know as “hot water extraction” or “steam cleaning”. The amount you would remove with a rental machine depends on how many vacuum passes you make with the cleaning wand.

Professional equipment also has 400 percent more vacuum power than the available rental carpet cleaning machines. This greater vacuum power removes more dirt and soil while leaving carpets dryer ( a critical achievement). Hot water will always clean better.

Truck mounted units provide its own heated water rather than being dependant on your hot water heater. Professional equipment utilizes heat making the cleaning solutions 5 times more active, providing superior cleaning result when compared to rentals units.

But, most importantly, professional equipment is “equilibrium balanced” in how it cleans. Meaning that vacuum recovery of the cleaning solution is balanced with the solution that is injected during the cleaning process. This maximizes the cleaning performance while providing a much more rapid drying time.
Secondly, think about the value of your time. To do a great job with a rental machine, it will take up to 8 times longer for you to clean your carpet than it would take for a professional service. It is also extremely hard work. Ask anyone who has given it a try. Moving and lifting furniture, leaning over the machine for an extended period of time, cleaning along edges, emptying the reservoir and refilling are all very hard work. This will lead to rapid fatigue. When you become fatigued, it is too easy to leave the carpet too wet, which can lead to shrinkage, mildew, and other problems.

This article does a great job at discussing the pros and cons of renting vacuums vs hiring a cleaning service. Professionals have better equipment and training so the job will get done swiftly and efficiently. That being said, they cost a much hiring amount than just renting materials and doing the cleaning yourself. It all depends on your budget, but both are good options.

Woah! I’m really digging the template/theme of
this blog. It’s simple, yet effective. A lot
of times it’s challenging to get that “perfect balance” between user friendliness
and appearance. I must say that you’ve done a great job with this.

Additionally, the blog loads very quick for me on Internet explorer.
    Excellent Blog!
